The Sydney International Piano Competition of Australia (SIPCA) is internationally recognized now as one of the world's great Piano Competitions.

Those of you who have been following this fabulous competition in Sydney over the last weeks will already know that the First Prize Winner ALSO won the People's Choice Award, and the First Prize Winner has a number of touring commitments associated with the prize which cut across the commitments made to tour ‘the People's Choice' winner. Yes! Clash... Clash! So, to solve the dilemma, SIPCA have provided us with a wonderful alternative in the overall second prize winner, Tatania Kolesova, to play the recital we have scheduled for 13 August.

Tatania is a prodigious 23 year old, born in Moscow and currently a student at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. To date she has given recitals in Russia, Italy, Spain, Poland, Great Britain, Switzerland,
Israel and Germany.  She has also recorded for radio and TV in Russia, Poland, Italy, France, Israel and England.   She has played with many orchestras including Kharkov, Yarosalivl City, Russian Camerata,
Kazan Philharmonic, Birmingham City, Winnipeg, Minnesota Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of South Africa, Russian National Orchestre, and Israel Camerata.

In Sydney, as well as second place overall, she was awarded Best Performance of a Chamber Music work, Best Performance of a work by a Russian Composer and Best Female Competitor in the Competition. In other words, she's pretty good (!) and not to be missed! Her recital program will include the Concert Suite from the ‘Nutcracker' by Tchaikovsky, Andante Spianato and Grand Polonaise by Chopin and Three
Movements from ‘Petrouchka' by Stravinsky, as well as works by Schubert and Haydn.

All this and the wonderful sound of the Shepparton Steinway for you to enjoy from elevated seating in the Eastbank Auditorium.
