Australia Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra ... Get close. Be moved.

Australia Pro Arte (APA) Chamber Orchestra is Melbourne's pre-eminent chamber orchestra. Under the patronage of the legendary Sir Neville Marriner, founder of the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, APA has won increasing recognition for its vital and intimate concerts which showcase an array of talent.

Capitalising on the emergence in Melbourne in recent years of some of Australia's finest string players, APA displays a depth and breadth of talent exceeded by no comparable group in the country.

Creatively, the drive and passion for APA programs emanates from distinguished violinist, William Hennessy, appointed Artistic Director in 2007. In a long list of career highlights, he is a former Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields player and founder of the Australian String Quartet.

The unique model of the APA orchestra comprises a core group of diverse ensemble players, whose flair and flexibility create the conditions in which creativity and peak performance flourish. The group incorporates and supports some the country's brightest emerging performers including members of the TinAlley String, Hamer, Tailem and Melba quartets.

APA Concert Series 2008: The Range of Light was recently launched which includes 12 metropolitan concerts and 11 regional performances.
