Based on Mem Fox's classic picture book, the stage production of Possum Magic has been stylishly embellished into a rollicking Australian musical - complete with lamingtons, pavlovas and vegemite sandwiches! Since the world premiere season in 1990, it has become the most successful Australian musical for children ever produced for the stage.
Possum Magic is the tender tale of baby possum Hush, made invisible by Grandma Poss in an effort to keep her safe from snakes. The adventure begins when Grandma is unable to reverse the "bush magic" spell and both she and Hush set off across Australia to try to find the solution.
A work full of imagination, charm and humour, Possum Magic features larger than life-size puppets, original music and a cast of multi-talented performers. First published in 1983, this national tour will celebrate 25 years of magic and is sure to be the highlight of Australian children's theatre for 2008!
Tickets will vanish like Bush Magic!
"You beaut, too right! Possum Magic is a bonza, dinky-di Aussie musical...foot tapping catchy tunes, superbly contrived puppet animals...it all looks and sounds wonderful!"- Adelaide Advertiser
"....as dinkum as the wattle, as true blue as the gum...it is the happiest compendium of song, dance, storytelling and vivid characters....all the larrikin whimsy of Mem Fox's story....it's a production of integrity and gusto!" - Sydney Sun-Herald
"I'm thrilled with it!....I was anxious about it at first. I didn't want it cheapened. But it hasn't been. I love to see the way the children react. It's as much fun as the stage." - Mem Fox (interviewed in the Sydney Sun-Herald)
"A touch of Australian magic....music and movement is the heart of the show....the snake dance is an artistic jewel...Australian to its toenails...sure to charm children and parents...highly recommended!" - Canberra Times
