Melbourne Symphony Orchestra

With a reputation for excellence, versatility and innovation, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is Australia's internationally-acclaimed and oldest orchestra, having celebrated its centenary thoughout 2007.

Each year the Orchestra performs to more than 250,000 people in Melbourne and into regional Victoria. They have been a fixture of the annual Shepparton music season for many years, and the MSO reaches an even larger audience across Australia through its regular concert broadcasts on ABC Classic FM.

Classic Kids 10.00am
Classic Kids introduces the individual sections of the orchestra - strings, woodwind, brass and percussion - to children in an exciting, involving concert experience. Presenters encourage young children to relate to the music and participate in accompanying activities including: communicating responses to the music and presentation;
engaging with special character presenters; following a story; singing along; conducting the orchestra.
Suited to pre-school and lower primary aged students. Show runs approx 45 minutes without interval

Meet the Orchestra 11.30am
The unique sounds of the orchestra and its instruments are explored in Meet the Orchestra.
As instruments are introduced and performance techniques described, so the power orchestral music has in communicating stories, images and emotions will become evident.
Show runs approx 60 minutes without interval
