There is no questioning that John Williamson remains one of the most influential songwriters of our time. He is one of the most awarded, loved and respected artists that our nation can claim.
To date, the man known most famously for his stirring unofficial anthems such as TRUE BLUE, RAINING ON THE ROCK, RIP RIP WOODCHIP and GALLERIES OF PINK GALAH'S has sold in excess of 3.5million albums as well as picking up some ARIA Awards, MO Awards, Golden Guitars, an OAM, Platinum and Gold Records and most importantly, the respect of his peers and his much loved countrymen.
All the accolades and success has only made the man more appreciative of his homeland and more inspired from its characters, vision and soul... he is simply, as Aussie as you get!
This year, 2010, will mark a milestone for John Williamson... 40 Years in the industry. This is a huge achievement for anyone who has any insight into the world of recording and celebrity... yet he remains at the top of his field.
His most recent album release, HILLBILLY ROAD went Gold. He also picked up another Golden Guitar to add to his mantel piece. Not bad for someone who has accumulated a massive amount of long service leave.
Whilst details of his 40th Year are being kept tightly under wraps, reports claim plans in store could see him elevated even further within the eyes and hearts of the Australian public... if that is at all possible!
One thing for sure is John Williamson will tour. There is possibly nothing more rewarding to this artist than sharing his songs, stories and laughs with a live audience. A John Williamson show never fails to deliver with his performance featuring yarns from the bush, hilarious tales and the tunes you can't help but sing along too.
Whilst not officially a part of his 40 Years True Blue Tour, John is kicking off the year with some shows to mark the occasion.
The short tour will showcase some of the unreleased material as well as known favourites. This is the beginning of a yearlong celebration of John Williamson, Australia's most recognised country music artist.
