Riverlinks presents Baby Boomer Blues

Baby Boomer Blues

After outstanding 2007 and 2008 Perth seasons, an hilarious West Australian comedy about love and life gone wrong is travelling East in 2009 for a 20 week national tour that will cover a staggering 11,500 kilometres.

"...original and exceptionally funny. Beautifully written and delivered..." Theatre Australia
Written and originally directed by Perth Theatre Company's award winning Artistic Director Alan Becher, Baby Boomer Blues is an entertaining portrayal of married life and a baby boomer couple's search for fulfillment.  This tongue in cheek comedy focuses on their marital tribulations as Bob's business fails and Carol takes over as the
household's breadwinner. This unexpected role swap has surprising results for their marriage, further complicated by  Bob's quest for the meaning of life. A tropical holiday, a karaoke talent quest and a typhoon push their partnership to  the brink of disaster.
Directed by the legendary and highly respected stalwart of West Australian theatre Jenny McNae, the production is supported by the creative talents of designer Steve Nolan (Bombshells, Amadeus and Soulmates), lighting designer Lucy Birkinshaw and sound designer Roly Skender (Glorious! and The Turning). Acclaimed Perth actor Ian Toyne (The Goat, Or Who Is Syliva?, Amadeus, Les Miserables and Mamma Mia) returns to play the role of baby boomer Bob.  General Manager of Perth Theatre Company, Tony Bonney, said that the Company is one of the premier theatre companies in Australia that tours the country on a regular basis, bringing theatre to all Australians.
"Since 2002 the company has toured seven shows nationally - arguably the most touring of any national subscription based theatre company during this time," he said. "The company is extremely proud of the fact that we provide local cast, creative teams and crew the opportunity to present their skills to the wider Australian audience."
Touring regionally to QUEENSLAND, NEW SOUTH WALES, VICTORIA and SOUTH AUSTRALIA from 10 June - 22 August 2009.
