"The Agatha Christie Radio Mysteries"...An Afternoon Delight
Before television, the highlight of the entertainment week was the Sunday night radio play.
Distinguished actors dressed in evening clothes would perform adaptations of recent movies, novels or stage plays live in front of an audience.
A group of Melbourne actors have recreated those days using recently rediscovered radio scripts by Agatha Christie. The Lux Radio Theatre actors play a wide range of roles, deliver the soap commercials and perform the live sound effects.
Since the show premiered at Hamer Hall at the Victorian Arts Centre it has toured widely including the Castlemaine, Noosa and Bright festivals.
The show features Beverley Dunn a veteran of radio who has performed with the Melbourne Theatre Company since its inception, young THANK GOD YOU’RE HERE regular Simon Russell, Rosalind Mackay and TDK/National Library Audio Book Award winners Jenny Seedsman and James Wright.
